Population
Azerbaijan has a population of about 10.1 million people (as of 2023). The population is ethnically diverse, with the majority being Azerbaijanis (around 91%). Smaller ethnic groups include Russians, Lezgins, Talysh, and Georgians. Azerbaijan also has a significant urban population, especially in the capital city of Baku.
Capital

Payroll in Azerbaijan must account for deductions for income tax, social security contributions, and other legally mandated charges. Working Hours

Vacation
Employees in Azerbaijan are entitled to at least 21 paid vacation days per year. Additional vacation days may be granted based on seniority or for certain professions. Public holidays are also considered paid leave.
Sick Leave
In the event of illness or accident, employees are entitled to sick leave. The first days of sick leave are usually paid by the employer, after which the state social security system takes over. The duration of payments and the percentage of the salary paid during sick leave depend on the length of the illness.
Termination/Severance
Azerbaijani labor law regulates terminations and provides for notice periods that vary depending on the employee’s length of service. Employees are entitled to severance pay in the case of wrongful dismissal. The amount of severance depends on the length of service and individual employment conditions. In certain cases, such as company restructuring, contractual severance payments are also provided.
